Morongo Basin COAD
The Morongo Basin Community Organizations Active in Disaster (COAD) is a humanitarian association of member organizations represent a diverse group of highly competent organizations that provide a wide range of skills and service. All dedicated to whole community engagement and recognize that the COAD movement values and practices represent a proven way to build resilient communities. Our dynamic combination of faith-based entities, community-based, community nonprofits, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), government agencies, schools and private sector, which have an ongoing interest in disaster readiness, response, recovery or mitigation, and which may choose to be active in any or all of these phases of disaster this region. The Morongo Basin COAD’s region is defined as Johnson Valley, Joshua Tree, Landers, Pioneertown, Twentynine Palms, Yucca Mesa, and Yucca Valley.
The Morongo Basin COAD will activate during major disasters such as fires and earthquakes. The group works throughout the year to plan strategies to facilitate effective and efficient communications, donations management, and volunteer utilization. This COAD, is one of several regional COADs within San Bernardino County, and is an active participant with San Bernardino County VOAD. It's mission reflects the purpose of that organization.
